Transfers inPWD made transparent
Lucknow: To make officers’ transfer process more transparent, the Public Works Department (PWD) has evolved a new procedure. The same procedure was adopted during transfers of 181 assistant engineers last week.Based on a transparent and merit-based evaluation, the department is also going to frame a procedure for the rest of employees of the department as well. For the first time during the transfer of the assistant engineers the PWD sought the choice posting of the officials, invited them to the headquarters on June 3 and displayed the transfer procedure live on a centralised display screen. The officials were asked to provide preferred locations of their postings (other than the home district) and on the basis of their seniority and credentials they were accorded priority while preparation of the transfer list.“We are also discussing if a merit-based ranking and grading system could be evolved for other employees and engineers after evaluating their annual evaluation report and overall feedback and conduct,” said a senior officer from the department. Meanwhile, PWD minister Jitin Prasada said that the overall objective was to offer choice based postings to officials on the basis of their credentials.
