LUCKNOW: UP government will celebrate 100 days of governance with a massive plantation drive on Tuesday (July 5). As many as 25 crore trees will be planted all over the state on Tuesday out of the total target of 35 crore trees for the year 2022.
Governor Anandiben Patel and chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the Vriksharopan Janandolan-2022 by planting a sapling in Lucknow and Chitrakoot respectively.
Besides, 50 cabinet and state ministers of the UP government and 25 MPs will also join the inaugural function of the plantation drive in all 75 districts.
Deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brijesh Pathak will plant saplings in Ayodhya and Prayagraj respectively.
All 35 crore trees will be planted in the state by August 15. Along with the nodal department, which is the department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, 26 other government departments will collectively plant 35 crore trees.
In the plantation drive, Amrit Van, Shakti Van, Bal Van, Yuva Van, Nagar Van and Khadya Van (Food forest) will be planted. On the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav on August 15, five crore saplings will be planted. On July 6 and July 7, 2.5 crore trees will be planted on each day.
Plantation will be done as per the agro-climatic zones of the state. Majority of the saplings that will be planted are of high environmental importance and have health benefits.
