‘1 lakh Tirupati laddus distributed during Ram temple consecration ceremony'

AYODHYA: Expressing anguish over reports of alleged presence of animal fat in ghee used to make Tirumala laddus, Ayodhya's Ram Temple chief priest Acharya Satyendra Das on Friday said over three quintals of 'laddu prasadam' from Tirupati were brought to Ayodhya during consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in January this year.

"It is unfortunate that animal fat was mixed in Tirupati laddus. If animal fat was mixed in it, it is unforgivable. Strict action should be taken against such people," Das said.

Around one lakh laddus from Tirupati were brought to Ayodhya during the consecration ceremony. These laddus were packed in large boxes and brought by a delegation from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. This prasad was distributed among devotees, said Das.

On Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that substandard ingredients and animal fat were used in making the Tirupati laddu, a consecrated sweet, during the previous YSRCP govt. The TDP govt also made a laboratory analysis report public that mentioned the presence of foreign fat.
