LUCKNOW: Security in the state capital will be beefed up on the occasion of Moharrum from January 11-20. The police have various plans which will be implemented in a couple of days for Moharrum preparations.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) west, Anil Kumar Rai, the entire western area in the city will be divided in four zones and 26 sectors.
Rai also informed that additional SP's will be deployed in the zones while the sectors will be looked after by deputy SP's who will be deployed at various important crossings and trisections considered sensitive from the point of view of riots.
Police will also deploy around four additional SP's and around eight deputy SP's and eighteen sub-inspectors per procession during Moharrum. Men for roof top securities at all the important sectors will also be deployed.
The SP west, also informed that the police will be provided with 22 companies which will comprise 5 companies of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the rest will be Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). Technologically the police will also be using night vision devices and close circuit television cameras (CCTV). The CCTV cameras according to the police will be shifted to areas according to its importance.
Local intelligence will also be deployed on the occasion to act as an aide. Around 18 SP's, 60 deputy SP's, 35 station officers, 350 sub-inspectors, 1,600 constables, 150 head constables and 14 women sub-inspectors will be deployed on the occasion of Moharrum in the state capital as informed by SP west, Anil Kumar Rai.
