PRAYAGRAJ: The Central Hospital on the sprawling Maha Kumbh mela area on Sunday got a delightful mascot — a baby boy born in the makeshift but fully-equipped hospital.
The son of a labourer couple, the birth on tent city, the banks of Ganga, is being seen as an auspicious beginning to the Kumbh Mela beginning from Jan 13.
Sonam (20), a daily wage labourer and resident of Kaushambi, on Sunday approached doctors at central hospital around 7 pm. A team of three doctors, including in-charge of central hospital Gaurav Dubey along with Dr Nupur and Dr Vartika rushed her to the makeshift with advanced facilities labourer room cum operation theatre.
The sudden activity drew the attention of all medical, and para medical staff in the hospital.
Dr Dubey told TOI that Sonam was blessed with a boy weighing around 2.4 Kg. He adds "It was a normal delivery being conducted at central hospital and both mother and infant are healthy."
"We have suggested the parents and family members to name the newly born as Ved," said Dr Dubey.
