LUCKNOW: When his peers were busy celebrating Friendship Day at the most happening clubs and lounge in city on the first Sunday of August, 22-year-old animal lover Cyrus Maclure organised a small get-together for 56 stray animals he feeds daily at his farm.
Built in a natural set up at Jaipal Khara (Malhore) about 15 kilometers from the city, ‘Cyro Farm’ is one-of-its-kind animal foster home in the city which features a fleet of domesticated animals and birds.

Once animals recover, special efforts are made to get them adopted.
Just the way he spends the entire day of Rakshabandhan with his rescued set of animals, this year Cyrus dedicated Friendship Day to all animals at his farm, including stray dogs, cats, monkey, mules, horses, mare, cows, ducks, turkey, hens, etc.
Besides treating them with a generous serving of their favorite meal, Cyrus along with some other animal lovers like Ashish, Andrew, Vijya, Virat and Aviral and voluntary workers at the farm tied friendship bands to them, making them feel special and loved.
While monkeys were given extra bananas and mangoes, cows, mules, mare, donkey and horses were given jaggery, cats and dogs relished an additional packet of pedigree biscuits and milk.
“To me, my pets are like medicines in pain and sometimes my friendship with animals works even better than medicines,” said Cyrus, brushing the coat of one of the dogs rescued by him.
Providing shelter and two square meals a day to the maximum stray animals is his lifetime mission, besides raising awareness about cruelty against animals among the people sensitizing them to adopt street dogs and cats instead of going in for only pedigreed ones.

Cyrus has so far successfully provided foster home to more than 60 homeless animals, including cats, dogs, and rabbits.
Vijya, a second-year student invited to two Friendship Day parties hosted by her college friends, opted to spend the whole day playing around, providing medicine and cleaning/ bathing the abandoned and injured animals.
“Friendship Day is all about sharing love with your buddies, so I prefer to spend quality time with stray animals making these homeless creatures feel special,” said Vijya, clicking selfies with her furry friends.
