STF busts CSMU paper leak racket, 5 nabbed

The Allahabad field unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police (UPP) on Wednesday busted a gang involved in systematic leakage of question papers of graduation and postgraduation courses of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSMU), Kanpur.

LUCKNOW: The Allahabad field unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police (UPP) on Wednesday busted a gang involved in systematic leakage of question papers of graduation and postgraduation courses of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University (CSMU), Kanpur. Five members of the gang were arrested and three sets of question papers along with 15 answer copies of CSMU recovered from them.

A case has been lodged with the George Town police station in Allahabad in connection with the incident.
Additional director general, STF, Brij Lal said that acting on a tip-off that a gang involved in leaking question papers and providing the facility of both the question papers and answers-copies being brought out of the examination centre and submitted back with solved answers was active in the city.
"The Allahabad field unit was deputed the task of tracking the gang following which the team received a tip-off that the gang was slated to assemble at Major DR Ranjit Singh Sports Complex on Wednesday with the question papers and blank answer copies of the examination slated for the second shift in the day," Brij Lal said. The gang would provide people who would write the answer copies which were then taken back to the examination centre from where they had been brought and duly submitted with the answer copies of the rest of the examinees, ADG added.
On the basis of the tip-off, the police swooped down on the identified site and arrested five persons. They were identified as Mahendra Pratap Singh, Ajit Singh, Sushil Kumar Jaiswal, Nand Lal Tewari and Mohammed Qasim - all natives of Allahabad. STF sources said Mahendra runs a private tuition classes, Ajit Singh works for a cellphone service provider involved in verification of identity and address of subscribers, Sushil owns a bookstore near CMP Degree College, while Nand Lal and Qasim are students of law.
The sleuths recovered two sets of question papers of BA II education paper,one set of question paper of BCom II money and financial system and a hand written copy of MCom I business environment along with 15 answer copies of CSMU from their possession. Detailed interrogation of the accused was underway to identify others involved in the racket. Sleuths also suspect the involvement of some college and university employees in the crime.
