SSB meet discusses cross-border challenges

Lucknow: A high-level meeting was convened at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Lucknow Frontier Headquarters, to discuss measures to strengthen infrastructure and enhance border policing along the India-Nepal border. The meeting focused on improving security coordination, surveillance, and law enforcement to tackle cross-border challenges.The meeting was presided over by Union home secretary Govind Mohan, with top officials from various states and security agencies present. The discussions revolved around upgrading border infrastructure, streamlining inter-agency cooperation, and reinforcing security measures to address cross-border crimes, smuggling and illegal migration.A senior officer said that border dominance joint patrolling, better intelligence collection, strengthening border roads, outposts, and surveillance infrastructure, enhancing inter-agency coordination for intelligence sharing, deploying advanced technology, including drones and thermal imaging cameras, and improving patrolling mechanisms along sensitive border stretches were discussed. DGP Prashant Kumar, DG SSB Amrit Mohan Prasad, UP chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and his Bihar counterpart Amrit Lal Meena, Principal secretary home Sanjay Prasad were among those present.
