Speeding SUV kills security guard

Lucknow: A speeding SUV ran over a security guard in the Alambagh area on Saturday. Passersby rushed the injured man to PGI Trauma-2, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police handed over the body to the family after conducting a post-mortem.The victim, Somdatt alias Raju Pandey (47), a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Duda Colony, Telibagh, worked as a private security guard. His son, Indresh, said that his father was on his way to duty on a bicycle when a speeding Thar SUV hit him in the Lal Kurti area. The impact threw him onto the road, causing serious injuries. A crowd gathered at the scene following the accident. Bystanders tried to stop the driver, but he managed to escape. However, some onlookers noted the vehicle's registration number and alerted the police.ADCP, East Zone, Pankaj Singh, said that the vehicle and its driver have been traced, and a case has been registered. Further action is underway.
