LUCKNOW:
Samajwadi Party chief
Akhilesh Yadav will kick-off his election campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls on September 16 by embarking on a 50 km cycle yatra on Lucknow-Agra expressway starting from Thathiya Mandi in Kannauj. The yatra will carry the message of ‘rights and dignity for all’.
The party hopes to revive its political fortunes in the upcoming elections through cycle yatras which had in 2012 proved to be a blessing for it as it secured a clear majority in the assembly for the first time ever.
The yatra was then also led by Akhilesh Yadav himself and the party’s success had been attributed to his rising popularity.
“With a plan to repeat the 2012 success when cycle yatras were launched by party’s youth workers across the state, this time we take out similar yatras led by block and district levels leaders along with sitting MLAs,” said party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary.
