LUCKNOW: Participants from all age groups rendered patriotic songs on Sunday in 'Pratidhwani Rangeela Bharat', a cultural programme organised by the Rameshwari Jagdish Yogshem Trust at CMS, Gomtinagar.

The annual function was organised by the trust founded by Nagendra Singh Chauhan in memory of his late mother. Chauhan said the purpose was not only to celebrate the diverse culture of the country, but also to educate the young audience in the jam-packed hall about the costumes and attires representing our states.

Parents dolled up their children with makeup and attire, helping them prepare for the ramp walk and dance performance that followed. The event began with a bhajan by Sumita Srivastava. Mohanlalganj MLA Amresh Kumar was the chief guest.

Gargi Dwivedi (5), dressed as Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi said she felt happy to represent a brave women warrior. Samya Tiwari (8) from a dance academy, dressed in a white kurta-pyjama, said, "Our teacher helped us with the dance steps which we practised for a week ."

Women dressed up representing brides of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Bihar, North India, and Punjab and walked the ramp.
