LUCKNOW: A 28-year-old software engineer reportedly committed suicide in his hotel room in Hussainganj police circle here. The incident came to light late on Sunday night.
Identified as Sandeep Kumar of Hyderabad, the victim had checked into a hotel in Hussainganj on August 19 and was lodged in room number 305. Employed with a Hyderabad-based software company, Sandeep was in the state capital to supervise the companys job which is presently providing software assistance to the state government for a programme to be used by the police recruitment board.
Suman Jha - a colleague of Sandeep who too is in Lucknow since August 16 for the same job - said on Sunday morning Sandeep told him that he would stay back in the hotel room for sometime as he was not feeling well and that he would join him at work after lunch.
Suman, also a software professional, told the police that Sandeep, however, did not turn up after lunch.
When Suman reached his hotel room after finishing his days work, he found Sandeeps room locked from inside. After all the efforts to generate a response from Sandeep proved futile, Suman informed the hotel management about it who in turn called up the police.
The police broke open the doors of Sandeeps room only to find his body hanging from the ceiling. Sandeep had apparently slit his wrist and bled profusely from the cut before he died, police said quoting circumstantial evidence.
Though no suicide note was recovered, police ruled out possibilities of foul play on grounds that the room was locked from inside. According to Suman, though Sandeep was a bit quiet in the morning, it did not appear that he might take such a step. While Suman informed his bosses in Hyderabad about the incident, police were trying to gather more details about Sandeep and clues that could help establish reasons behind suicide.
