LUCKNOW: Jhamm Tidik Jhamm, a play by the slum children was staged under the aegis of Yayavar Rang Mandal at Rai Umanath Bali hall on Tuesday.

These children have undergone training under renowned actor Lalit Singh Pokhariyal for one month and it reflected in their on-stage performance.

Given the fact that it was a children''s play, the storyline was not very clear and the satire was too subtle.

The play, to put it briefly, looks at the world from children''s eyes.
For example what do they think about the social reforms, how the fruit of such reforms never reach the grassroots; what do the children think about our politicians; who is the biggest enemy of humans, and many such problems, which might prove petty ones for grown ups and are often taken for granted. But, here they were all tackled with much more seriousness by the children.

The society does not allow any one live in peace. This fact was brought into light through a small Panchtantra story, in which when a father and a son walk beside their horse, onlookers say that they are foolish enough not to ride the horse. When father rides the horse, he is declared a selfish person. When son rides, he is termed disobedient and when they both ride the horse, they are termed cruel.

Conceptualised by Lalit Singh Pokhariyal and directed by Sunil Chaturvedi, the presentation by the slum children was really impressive.
