LUCKNOW: Six months have passed since Lucknow Municipal Corporation passed six projects during the proceedings of the House, but none have started yet.
Corporators fear that it is highly unlikely that these projects will kick off now since only one and a half months have left for the notification of the local body election body. After that all new developmental works will be stopped.

If not all, LMC should try to implement some of the schemes like one-time-settlement of pending house tax before notification of the elections. There are many residents who are waiting for this scheme because they could not pay tax earlier due to the financial crisis during the pandemic.Similarly, the Anusuiya Rasoi is for the benefit of the poor whose kin are hospitalized

The corporators said that the House on May 6 had approved six projects - One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), women's mall in Charbagh, Anusuiya Rasoi, clinics in zonal offices, establishment of Lord Laxman idol in Jhulelal Park and setting up streetlights in 88 newly inducted villages.

Of these, proposals of two projects OTS scheme and approval for women's Mall in Charbagh are pending with the government, while the irrigation department has not issued a no-objection certificate for the idol of Lord Laxman in Jhulelal Park.
Similarly, they said, works for Anusuiya Rasoi, clinics in the zonal offices, and street lights are pending. Ayajurrahman, corporator, Ghari-peer-Kha ward, said, "After only one and a half months the model code of conduct will be implemented so LMC should make it clear when it will start these projects."

"Even after five months, projects are on paper. This reflects on the failure of the party (BJP) ruling LMC. There is no way the civic body can complete these projects in this financial year," said SP corporator Prasad Kesari Kheda ward Devendra Yadav.
Nagendra Singh Chauhan, corporator of Hazratganj ward, said, "These projects are pending because the local body doesn't have money to execute them. Even if the process starts now it will take at least a year in completion.
" In charge of the projects, LMC chief engineer Mahesh Chandra Verma said, "Work on OTS, women's mall can only be started after approval from the government and the proposal has already been sent. For other works like establishment of clinics and development of 88 villages work will start soon."
He also said that there is no need for Anusuiya Rasoi as of now. However, it will be taken in the future, he said. Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia said, "Nobody should get concerned about projects as we are working on them and work will start soon."
