LUCKNOW: Wars have been fought for wealth and women and can cause rift between siblings too. This formed the theme of the play, Begum ka takiya, which was staged at the ongoing theatre festival, Repertwahr, in the city on Tuesday.
The play revolves around two brothers who share the same blood, bread and roof. "Wealth and women create a chasm between them.

Blood turns into water and bread converts into dust and ashes. Greed, desire, karma and non-karma get locked in a tussle,'' said Bhupesh Rai, a member of the organising team, after watching the play.
Directed by Ranjit Kapoor, Begum ka takiya is set in a small village of masons and bricklayers. "It made me realise how instincts rule the mind and bring about a change in behaviour,'' said theatre lover Amrit Verma.
Meanwhile, the controversy over the play `Vagina Monologue' is far from over. The staging of the play was cancelled by the culture department reportedly after the authorities found its theme as scathing. However, the organisers claimed that the play has only been postponed and a final decision on its fate would be taken by the court.
