AYODHYA: As heat continues to wreak havoc on the temple town, a traffic police sub-inspector on duty at Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya on Sunday, fainted and fell on the ground. TSI Vinod Sonkar (40) was rushed to the Ayodhya district hospital, where he died

Talking to TOI , Pramod Yadav, CO traffic of Ayodhya, said, "Our traffic sub-inspector became a victim of the heat wave and lost his life." Several traffic policemen are working under the blazing sun amid dust rising from roads that are under construction.

On being asked about cause of Sonkar's death, Ayodhya chief medical officer Ajay Raja said, "Postmortem report is awaited." He added, "If you go around Ayodhya, hundreds of labourers are working to construct roads round the clock and there is likelihood of many cases of heat stroke and we are receiving several such already."
