Lucknow: A 59-year-old sub-inspector posted at the Kaiserbagh police station died after his motorcycle crashed into a divider in Lucknow late on Monday night, police said on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Shiv Ram, was a resident of Mahoba and was currently serving with the Lucknow police. He was returning to his rented accommodation in the Thakurganj area after his duty.
Police said the accident took place on the road near King George's Medical University when the motorcycle allegedly went out of control and rammed into a divider. The impact left him with serious head injuries.
Passers-by alerted the police and helped shift him to the trauma centre at KGMU where he succumbed to his injuries.
SHO Kaiserbagh Anjani Kumar Mishra said the body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the family.
"Shiv Ram is survived by his wife and 9 children, including 4 daughters and 5 sons," he added.
