Shastri applauds policemen’s valour

LUCKNOW: “Those 90 police personnel who laid down their lives during the last one year while discharging their duties are very much members of the police force till date and their families would be looked after by us,” said governor Vishnu Kant Shastri while addressing police officers and personnel on the occasion of the annual police parade held at the Reserve Police Lines here on Friday morning.

he applauded the role of the police in maintaining internal security and harmony within the state. addressing the gathering, shastri highlighted the role of the state police and commended their efforts in discharging their duties. qaseedon se na chalta hai, na chalta hai dohe se; yeh kaar-e-sultanat, akbar, chalta hai lohe se (the administration is run neither by praises nor couplets. it is run only by determination) he said while stating that discipline and valour is what makes the police stand out from other wings of the state. shastri gave away president's police medal for distinguished services to senior ips officers arun kumar gupta and shailja kant misra, who are posted as ig pac in lucknow. president's police medals were awarded to deputy superintendents of police (dy sps) lc sharma, omkar ban (retired) and mr nautiyal of 23rd company pac, moradabad. police medals were awarded to 31 other police personnel also. earlier, the governor took salute at the ceremonial parade in which contingents from the 9th battalion pac, civil police, armed police, pac, commandos, women police, traffic police, anti-riot wing, fire-brigade, and wireless units carrying police and pac flags briskly marched to the popular tunes of police and pac bands.
