Shashi murder: Clinching evidence against Anand Sen
LUCKNOW: Even as sitting BSP MLA from Auraiya, Shekhar Tewari is in jail for the murder of PWD engineer, Manoj Gupta, clinching evidence against another sitting BSP MLA, Anand Sen in the murder of a law student, Shashi of Faizabad is sure to cause him more trouble ahead. The narco-analysis of his driver and co-accused, Vijay Sen backed by the details of the cellphone calls of the two, strongly establish the former minister's connivance in the murder.

During his polygraph and narco-analysis test -- which have been kept confidential by the police and under strict custody of the district court in Faizabad -- Vijay Sen said that the then minister had illicit relations with Shashi, who eventually got pregnant. This left Anand Sen concerned and he wanted to get rid of Shashi before she could spill the beans. According to Vijay Sen's statement as mentioned in the narco-analysis report, "... He said that Anand Sen had come to know that Shashi was pregnant. He said Anand Sen had asked him to murder her.''
About the reason behind the murder, according to the narco-analysis report, a copy of which is available with TOI, "... Shashi had become pregnant. Since Shashi's father was a party worker, he feared the topic may be raised at the Vidhan Sabha. Thus Anand decided to eliminate her. Further, Shashi was also pressurising Anand, he said.'' says the report, a copy of which is available with TOI.
While recollecting the sequence of events on the day of the murder, Vijay Sen in his trance stage of the narco-analysis conducted at the Jaynagar Hospital in Bangalore, said: "....On the day of the incident, Shashi had come to know about the illegal relations between Minister and Seema. There was a fight between Seema and Shashi. He said on the day of the incident, Seema was also with him in the car. Seema was sitting in the car on the front seat.''
Vijay Sen even revealed ... "He said after the incident he had called two constables to help him to start that car and at that time Seema was sitting on the front seat.'' About the murder, the narco-analysis report says: "He said on that day, before the incident he got a call from Anand Sen and had inquired about whether she was there with him. ... After the incident he informed Anand Sen on phone that he had pushed her into the canal, he kissed her and strangulated her with his own hands and then disposed her body into the canal."
Police investigations have established calls between Anand and Vijay Sen from the site where Shashi was murdered, before and after the murder took place.
Shashi went missing since October 22, 2007. After initial reluctance, Faizabad police lodged a case accusing Vijay Sen on the complaint of her father. On the basis of Vijay Sen's statement, police then arrested Anand Sen who was at that time a minister in Mayawati cabinet. Anand was first made to resign from the cabinet before he was arrested. He continues to be in jail and his bail application is believed to be pending before the Allahabad high court.
