SGPGI gets upgrade with 4 advanced radiology systems

Lucknow: Emergency imaging services at the Apex Trauma Centre of SGPGIMS received an upgrade with the inauguration of four advanced radiology systems on Monday.Aimed at speeding up diagnosis and improving trauma care, the new installations include a fully automated digital X-ray unit, a high-resolution ultrasound system with enhanced musculoskeletal imaging, a mobile X-ray unit and a computed radiography system.
The facilities were inaugurated by SGPGIMS director Prof R K Dhiman in the presence of Archana Gupta, head of radiodiagnosis and Arun Kumar Srivastava, chief of the apex trauma centre along with faculty members and staff. Officials said the fully automated digital X-ray system will enable faster image acquisition with improved clarity, helping clinicians make prompt decisions in critical trauma cases. The high-end ultrasound machine, equipped with advanced musculoskeletal capabilities, is expected to aid in precise evaluation of soft tissue injuries, ligament tears, and fractures, while also supporting follow-up assessments during recovery.The mobile X-ray unit will facilitate bedside imaging for critically injured patients. Dhiman said timely and accurate imaging forms the backbone of trauma management, adding that the new systems are expected to significantly reduce patient turnaround time.
