Seven girls held for flesh trade
Eleven people, including seven girls, were arrested from different parts of the city on charges of running a sex racket.
Two pimps and two clients were also nabbed in the operation which started late on Wednesday night and continued till wee hours on Thursday.
Three mobile phones and two cars were also recovered from the accused.
It started with the arrest of Kunwar Pal alias Muchhad, a lift operator in Yojna Bhawan, who also worked as a pimp.
The other three men arrested have been identified as Rajeev Anand, a businessman from Faizabad, Ganesh, another pimp and Vineet Tandon, an insurance agent residing in Aliganj.
The arrested girls belong to Kanpur, Unnao, Rae Bareli and Gorakhpur. Police said that the gang used to charge Rs 2,000 to 5,000 for a couple of hours.
Police claimed they a dairy has been recovered which has contact numbers and addresses of others involved in the racket. Sub-inspector Manoj Kumar Singh, posted in Kaiserbagh police circle was suspended after it was found that he also used to visit one of the girls.
IG AK Jain said, ���We got clues about sex rackets operating in Munshi Pulia, Gomtinagar and Madiaon areas from two persons who were arrested in the Sarojninagar area for kidnapping and raping a woman on February 18.
Interrogation of Muchhad and an accused girl revealed that Ganesh, who hails from Mumbai, was operating a sex racket from a house on Ring Road. Muchhad also told the police about Shiv Shukla, who was operating another racket with Chhotu in Alishah Nagar in Jankipuram. Police raided the two places. Vineet, Ganesh and three girls were arrested.
Three other girls and Rajeev Anand were arrested from Jankipuram. Chhotu and Shiv Shukla managed to escape. The police said that the arrested persons have given clues about more such rackets in the city.
