LUCKNOW: Pakistani national Seema Haider, who had entered India illegally in May, and her Indian partner Sachin were questioned for the second time in as many days by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of the UP Police in Noida on Tuesday.
The couple was first interrogated by the ATS for about 12 hours on Monday and allowed to go late in the night.
Sources said they were grilled following inconsistencies in their statements to the police and material on record. "So far, nothing incriminating has emerged. If we find anything suspicious during probe, the duo will be summoned to ATS headquarters in Lucknow," said special director general of police (law and order) Prashant Kumar on Tuesday.
Sources privy to the probe said a team of Intelligence Bureau (IB) was also a part of the interrogation. The IB officials sought details on how Seema managed to cross the border and enter UP.
They also sought details from SSB about Seema's entry in India. Seema (27) - a mother of four - had allegedly sneaked into India through Nepal and met Sachin (22) after they reportedly fell in love while playing an online game in 2019. They stirred a controversy when a section of the media claimed that Seema was an ISI agent. Following the row, Seema, Sachin and his father were arrested on July 4 under the provisions of the Foreigners Act and the Passport Act but were granted bail on July 7.
Seema and Sachin had met in person for the first time in March this year and stayed at a Kathmandu hotel for seven days. Seema came to Nepal for the second time with her four children in May. She later sneaked into India and started living illegally at Mohalla Ambedkar Nagar in Rabupura of Greater Noida with Sachin since May 13.
The couple has informed agencies that they got married in Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal.
A senior official privy to the probe said that Seema told cops that she entered the state from Bihar via Sitamarhi. Another official said that Seema had posted over 100 videos with Sachin on Instagram between March 11 and 29 in an apparent bid to prove her 'love' for him.
