Sakshi bags bronze in Wushu, Four more UP players reach finals

Lucknow: Sakshi Johri won the bronze medal for Uttar Pradesh in Wushu at the 38th National Games, currently underway in Uttarakhand. In the bouts held on Friday, Suraj Yadav, Abhishek Tanwar, Prerna, and Shruti advanced to the finals, keeping hopes alive for gold medals.
UPOA general secretary Anandeshwar Pandey said that in the Wushu competition held in Dehradun, Sakshi Johri of Meerut clinched the bronze medal in Taichi under the Taolu category. With this, UP's medal tally increased to three, including one silver and two bronze.
"In Sanda, Suraj Yadav defeated Jammu and Kashmir in the men's 70 kg weight category, and Abhishek Tanwar beat Haryana in the 90 kg weight category to advance to the final," he added.
In the women's Sanda category, Prerna triumphed over Rajasthan in the 60 kg weight category, and Shruti Saravaiya defeated Himachal Pradesh in the 70 kg weight category to secure a place in the final. UP Wushu Association Secretary Manish Kakkar expressed confidence that UP players will win gold for the state on Saturday.
Akhil Infra register easy win over Paarth
Akhil Infra Club registered a nine-wicket win over Paarth Academy in the 3rd Karim Chishti Memorial Tournament at Paarth Ground on Friday. Batting first, Paarth Academy was skittled out for 155 in 31 overs, with Aadarsh Kumar (68) and Kuldeep Pandey (60) being the main contributors. Shashwat Krishna, Ashmit Mishra, and Ajeet Verma claimed two wickets each. In reply, Akhil Infra achieved the target effortlessly in 16 overs. Harshit Yadav and Ajeet Verma played unbeaten knocks of 47 and 41 runs, respectively. Ajeet Verma was named man of the match for his all-round performance.
At SAR ground, SAR Sports Group defeated Unity Academy by four wickets. Batting first, Unity was bundled out for a mere 104 runs in 28 overs. SAR chased down the target with ease in 27.2 overs, losing six wickets. In other matches, SRK Academy defeated Gear Club by three wickets, while Indian Club thrashed St. Ann's Academy by nine wickets. The Creators Club and Hindustan Fire also registered massive wins over Annapurna Club and Jigyasa Club, respectively.
Aashi, Rudransh emerge champs
Aashi Kiran edged past Zufisha Khan 6-4, 7-5 to emerge as the winner in the U-16 Girls' Singles category of the UP State Ranking Tennis Tournament at La Martiniere Courts on Friday. Meanwhile, Rudransh Pandey defeated Ayansh Pathak 6-4, 6-1 to lift the Boys' U-10 trophy.
