LUCKNOW: The schools have re-opened and Regional Transport Office (RTO) has planned to resume its drive against unauthorised operation of school vehicles. The drive will start after July 6. All the school vehicles, including vans and buses, will be checked for safety norms.
Action will be taken against those drivers who overload their vehicles. Besides, vehicles which do not posses a valid fitness certificate or those found plying as a school vehicle without the required school permit will have to face music.
"We request parents and school management to check the credentials of the vehicles," said Sanjay Nath Jha, ARTO, enforcement.
The drivers of school vehicles should have a five-year experience in driving a transport vehicle. The drivers not having the needed experience will have to face action. RTO, in the initial phases of the drive, had issued some instructions to owners and drivers of school vehicles. It is time to check if all of them have been implemented.
Lot of tasks are still pending from the drive's earlier phases. Schools were asked to provide the details of the vehicles plying for their children. RTO was preparing a database of all school vehicles on the basis of the information.
Schools were also asked to inform RTO about the number of vehicles they need to help their students commute between home and school. The drive this time would not be of much use if the pending tasks are not completed.
