LUCKNOW: Over Rs 12.42 crore has been distributed among the flood victims in the state, including Rs 5.42 crore as gratuitous relief, over Rs 3.55 crore as house-building assistance, and about 3.45 crore as ex-gratia payment.
The above information was given by secretary and relief commissioner Anant Kumar Singh to newspersons here on Monday. He said that floods and heavy rains had affected 1.30 crore persons, over 23.30 lakh hectares of land, an agricultural area of 14.92 lakh hectares and a crop area of 12.77 lakh hectares in 16,640 villages; besides, completely damaging 34,070 houses and 2.88 lakh houses partially, and claiming the lives of 885 humans and 2,875 cattle.
