Rose garden to spread fragrance at Janeshwar park
Lucknow: A newly developed Rose Garden opened at Janeshwar Mishra Park on Saturday. Spread over 15 acres and created at a cost of Rs 5 crore, the garden is open to all with no entry fee. The rose park and the related festival was curated by Repertwahr foundation while the park has been developed by the Lucknow Development Authority. The horticultural marvel is second largest rose garden in India, featuring 2,269 varieties of roses sourced from across India and abroad, showcasing an extraordinary diversity in color, fragrance, shape and bloom pattern.
The collection encompasses French roses, delicate Kashmiri roses, fragrant hybrid tea roses, vibrant floribundas, tall climbers, charming miniature roses and rare imported varieties from Europe and Asia. The garden presents a rainbow themed layout, with colors ranging from deep crimson, scarlet and burgundy to soft pinks, blush tones, whites, yellows, oranges and purples, offering visitors an immersive visual experience. Inspired by the Chandigarh Rose Garden, it houses a total of 10,509 plants, planted scientifically to ensure optimal sunlight, irrigation and soil nutrition. The soil has been treated for fertility, while a centralised water sprinkler system with double-filtered water maintains the roses in peak condition. Thoughtful landscaping includes gazebos at entry and exit points, shaded benches along winding walkways, security fencing and facade lighting that transforms the garden into a luminous spectacle in the evenings. The blend of exotic and native species, combined with meticulous design, makes the rose garden not only a visual and sensory delight but also a recreational space for families, students, photographers and nature enthusiasts. The garden was inaugurated on Saturday by Vivek Srivastava, LDA secretary. "We have also planted ornamental flowers such as dahlias, tulips, marigolds and other seasonal blooms along the borders to enhance colour and diversity. The garden blends aesthetic beauty with biodiversity and leisure, offering a complete sensory experience ," said Srivastava.
