LUCKNOW: The Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital authorities issued a show cause notice to ventilator unit in charge here on Wednesday in the case of alleged medical negligence involving the mother of hospital's medical superintendent.
The matter relates to Rama Devi, mother of RML Medical superintendent Dr Omkar Yadav, who was undergoing treatment for a renal ailment since November 16.

Her condition reportedly deteriorated on November 20 when the doctors rushed her to the ventilator unit.
As per reports, the doctor put her on defibrillator for reviving the heart but found that the machine was out of charge. By the time the patient was put on another machine, she collapsed. Though Dr Yadav has not lodged any complaint in the case, hospital authorities have taken cognizance of the matter.
Talking to reporters, director RC Agarwal said: “The incident was unfortunate and we will take action. A show cause notice has been issued to the incharge of the ventilator unit.”
RML hospital is the only government sector hospital in the city to have a ventilator unit comprising six beds. However, three of the six ventilator beds in the unit are non-functional. When asked to comment on this, Dr Agarwal said, “The three non-functional ventilators have been discarded because they cannot be repaired. A proposal for procurement of new ones has been sent to the government.”
Aggrieved superintendent Dr Omkar Yadav told reporters that he had his ‘own reasons for not filing a complaint’. “My family believes that the incident was destined.... and I feel I have seen all that before my eyes. My colleagues tried their best,” he told TOI over the phone.
