LUCKNOW: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) general secretary,
Jayant Chaudhary flagged off the `Badlav Yatra' from Kaushambi on Tuesday. The march is seen as RLD's bid to to made inroads into eastern UP ahead of the 2012 assembly elections.
The march would pass through 21 districts of the state and culminate at at Gorakhpur.
Addressing a gathering in Kaushambi, Chaudhary touched upon various issues pertaining to farmers and employment generation in this part of the state.
"The objective of the march is to raise aspiration of the civil society seeking changes," said state RLD president, Hardeo Singh. "Not only corruption, but issues pertaining to employment generation, health and education are also of concern," he said.
Singh added that the objective of the march is to cover the entire Poorvanchal.
Having its presence concentrated in western part of the state, RLD has taken to a march across eastern UP days after it entered into an alliance with various smaller political outfits ahead of the assembly elections. Some of the political parties the RLD entered into an alliance claim have a strong local influence, which may potentially affect aspirations of many bigger political parties.
