Rizvi’s ton in vain, HP beat UP

Lucknow: Sameer Rizvi's magnificent century went in vain as Himachal Pradesh beat Uttar Pradesh by six wickets in the Men's Under-23 State A Trophy at Reliance Cricket Stadium, Vadodara, on Thursday. Batting first, Uttar Pradesh's top order crumbled to 60/4 in 10.1 overs as Shoaib Siddique (4) was trapped in front of the wicket by Aniket, while Shaurya Singh accumulated 21 runs before being caught by Innesh off Sahil Sharma. Adrash Singh (18) and skipper Rituraj Sharma (3) also departed in quick intervals, leaving the team tottering at 60/4. Sameer Rizvi then shouldered the responsibility brilliantly, scoring 153 runs from 114 deliveries and single-handedly taking the team's total to 232 in 42 overs, despite losing partners at the other end. For Himachal, Ritik V Kumar claimed four wickets, while Aniket and Sahil Sharma took three and two wickets, respectively. In reply, Aryavrat Sharma (66), Amanpreet Singh (48), Innesh Mahajan (32), Mridul (32), and Vaibhav Kalta (28) helped Himachal Pradesh achieve the target in 45.4 overs.
