A teacher in the law faculty lodged an FIR with the police against a colleague charging him with theft.
LUCKNOW: The rivalry among teachers stooped to an all-time low in Lucknow University on Monday when a teacher in the law faculty lodged an FIR with the police against a colleague charging him with theft. The latter retaliated by requesting the vice-chancellor to initiate disciplinary action against the complainant. It was shocking for all on the campus, when Prof S Varshney lodged a complaint with Madiaon police accusing dean, law faculty, SN Saxena of theft.
In her complaint, Prof Varshney has accused Prof Saxena of breaking into her official chamber and stealing a laptop computer and other valuables besides selling off all the 2005 examination answer-copies as waste paper.
Prof Varshney told TOI that she had gone as an expert examiner to a university in Punjab. When she returned on January 23, she found that the lock of the room has been replaced by another. She got the keys and opened the room only to find that all the answer-copies were missing along with her laptop computer and other valuables kept in an almirah. She has made one Sanjeev Saxena as a co-accused with the dean... ... When contacted, Prof Saxena rubbished the allegations as a bundle of lies. He said that Prof Varshney was forcibly occupying the room since long and refused to vacate despite several reminders. "Finally, vice-chancellor directed me to get the room vacated," he said. The room, he said, was opened in the presence of senior university officials. "There were cob-webs around as if the room was not in use for long," he said adding, "We only found waste paper and nothing else." Other senior officials supported the statement of Prof Saxena.
