On Thursday, Rimjhim finally achieved what her father failed to do. She met the CM and handed over her father’s gift to him. Yogi has announced Rs 5 lakh from the CM’s relief fund towards her education.
Sources in the CM office said Rimjhim, a resident of Akbarpur in Lucknow, lost her mother when she was four-year-old. Her father had attempted several times to meet the CM but had not been successful. “After her father’s death, the girl started insisting that she wanted to hand over the kharaus to the CM herself. Her family contacted the Mohanlalganj MP Kaushal Kishore to help them in getting time with Yogi. As soon as the CM heard about it, he immediately asked to meet Rimjhim,” said an official.
Time was set for Thursday and Rimjhim met the CM carrying her father’s gift. In the half-an-hour meeting, Yogi Adityanath questioned her about her school, what she is taught and whether she received the school uniform and bag this year. Rimjhim told him that she lives with her maternal grandparents and two uncles. While she refused to count for the CM, she did recite a poem for him. Rimjhim said she wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
“The CM directed the district magistrate that Ramjhim should face no problems. He announced Rs 5 lakh for her from the CM relief fund to be kept in a monthly income scheme towards her education. She has received a further Rs 5 lakh from the electricity department and Rs 5 lakh from insurance,” said a government spokesperson.
