Riding an Audi, armed with pistol, accused in sexual harassment case enters court premises; arrested
LUCKNOW: Alacrity of lawyers at the Lucknow district court led to the arrest of Chandrapal Singh, who was carrying a pistol, to the court premises on Friday.
Police stated that Chandrapal, a resident of the Madiaon area, is accused in 10 criminal cases, including one of sexual harassment involving the wife of an IPS officer. He had appeared in court on Friday for a hearing.
Additional DCP Vishwajeet Srivastava stated that Chandrapal arrived around 10.15am in an Audi car at Gate number 6 of the court premises.

“Vehicles of judges are parked inside this gate. Security personnel at the gate stopped him, so he identified himself as a railway magistrate. Upon being recognized as a railway magistrate, security personnel saluted him and allowed him to enter the parking area. He then took out a pistol from the car and started walking towards the court premises,” said Srivastava.
It was at that moment when lawyers spotted Chandrapal. Initially heading towards the CBI court on the third floor, he changed his direction upon being noticed by lawyers and started heading towards the Railway Tribunal Court, as told by the police.
At that juncture, some lawyers surrounded him and overpowered him. Upon receiving information about the accused entering the court premises with a pistol, other lawyers present on the premises arrived, and the police were informed.
“We arrested Chandrapal Singh and sent him to jail,” said ADCP Srivastava. The pistol was seized, and his license will also be cancelled.
Last year, in a sensational incident, Vijay Yadav, posing as an advocate, had fired six rounds at gangster Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva, who was brought for a hearing in the Lucknow courtroom on June 7, 2023.
