Repair work at ‘killer’ Papermill Trisection begins on war footing

Lucknow: After TOI highlighted how a crater dug up for construction of a speed table at Papermill Trisection in Nishatganj has become an accident hotspot, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has started repair work at the site.
The speed table is being constructed at the site as a part of Smart City project but was abandoned by the contractor after an accident in which a speeding vehicle ran over two labourers on November 24, killing them on the spot.Since then the crater was left unattended with concrete gravel and stones spread all around.
On December 11, TOI highlighted that several accidents have taken place at the spot. Municipal commissioner Indrajit Singh took cognizance and issued directions to restart the work. The construction work is being carried out after blocking the road past midnight till early morning because it is the main route connecting Transgomti areas to Hazratganj and the other to Gomtinagar.
“The construction work is being done keeping in view the inconvenience caused to the commuters as thousands of vehicles ply daily on this road,” said Singh.
