GORAKHPUR: In order to discourage people from dumping garbage and littering the area, the walls of IG police office in Gorakhpur are being adorned with paintings from

Mahabharata

and Ramayana. IG

Mohit Agarwal

said he came up with the idea to ensure cleanliness in the area.

IG Agarwal said, "The area was very dirty and it used to stink. Despite our concerted effort, people didn't stopped urinating on the wall. Several times, my staff and I cleaned the area but the situation did not improve. So I thought of religious paintings on the wall, hoping that people would hesitate in making it dirty. It is not only Ramayana and Mahabharata, soon pictures from other religions will also be depicted here."
