LUCKNOW: Governor Ram Naik strongly condemned the Naxal attack in Gadchiroli district of
Maharashtra on Wednesday and condoled the martyrdom of 16 police personnel in the incident.
In a statement, Ram Naik, who himself hails from Maharashtra, expressed his grief over the deaths in the Naxal attack and said that the entire nation stands with the affected families in this hour of grief and extends support to them.
Naxals had triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) to blow up the police vehicle between Jamborkheda and Lendhari in Gadchiroli.
Earlier, former governor of
Uttar Pradesh, Moti Lal Vora called on Ram Naik and enquired about his health. Vora had been governor of the state from 1993 to 1996.
Moti Lal Vora praised Ram Naik for his dedication and hardwork while Ram Naik reciprocated by saying that the Raj Bhawan staff still remembers him very fondly.
