Ram Darbar at Ayodhya temple to open on June 6 after adding 18 more idols
LUCKNOW: The first floor of Ayodhya's Ram Temple, having a grand Ram Darbar, would be opened for devotees on June 6 after a ceremonial puja a day before.
This will follow the formal installation of idols on May 23. A three-day ceremony will lead to the installation of 18 more idols in the temple, say temple trust officials. Ram temple construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra told TOI that dates May 23 and June 5 have their own auspicious planetary alignments, so it has been decided to have the installation done on May 23 and subsequently, declare the Ram Darbar open on June 6, after a puja on June 5.
The Ram Lalla consecration in 2024 was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The idol installed then was the child form of Ram. Now, the idol of Raja Ram would be installed on the first floor. The five-foot Ram statue carved in white marble in Jaipur is part of the Ram Darbar, which will also feature the idols of Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan and Hanuman. Seven more temples on the campus would be completed before June 6.
Temple trust general secretary Champat Rai said, "Starting April 15, transporting the idols from Jaipur to Ayodhya will commence. As they arrive, the idols will be placed at their designated locations. Construction firm Larsen & Toubro will oversee the installation of all 18 idols."
"On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, April 30, the Ram Darbar will be ceremoniously placed in the sanctum sanctorum on the first floor. A three-day Pran Pratishtha ceremony is scheduled during which sacred rituals like Jalavas, Annavas, Aushadhivas, and Shayyavas will be performed in the presence of all trust members," he said.
The entire construction of the Ram Temple is projected to be completed by Oct this year, he said.
Ram temple trust member Anil Mishra said, "The details of the ceremony would be shared once it gets finalised. For now, we are planning the spots where the idols would be kept before the installation at the designated spots."
