Rakshabandhan a symbol of duty and harmony too: Yogi
Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Rakshabandhan to be celebrated on Saturday. In a message released on Friday, the Chief Minister said Rakshabandhan is a festival symbolising the mutual love, affection and trust between brothers and sisters. "It represents duty, sacrifice, social unity and harmony. While it is a festival celebrating the bond between siblings, it also honours the teacher-student tradition in India," he said.Explaining the root of that tradition, the CM Yogi said that Rakshabandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Shrawan. In the tradition of ashrams, it was customary to tie protective threads to patrons and disciples after study and rituals during the month of Shravan, a practice that continues in the form of Rakshabandhan."This festival also serves to enhance love and brotherhood in society and highlights the importance of charity," the Chief Minister said.
