LUCKNOW: MCA student Sanjay Pal Singh, who went into a state of acute psychosis after being repeatedly ragged by some students of Lucknow University, was discharged from the psychiatry ward of the CSMMU on Monday. The doctor attending on him said he was perfectly fine now. Though a named FIR had been lodged with the Madiaon police, no arrests have been made so far.Dr Vivek Aggarwal, faculty member of the CSMMU, who attended on Sanjay said that he was fully cured.
“We discharged him on Monday. He does not require any medication now,” Dr Aggarwal said.
When asked whether Sanjay was suffering from any mental problems before he was ragged, the doctor answered in the negative. “It was because of the harassment that he developed these symptoms,” he said. There were rumours spread by private hostel Anand Villa that Sanjay was suffering from mental disorder even before he joined the hostel. Warden and owner of Anand Villa Gyan Prakash Srivastava had told TOI on Sunday that Sanjay was a little eccentric. ‘‘He used to keep awake the whole night. He was suspicious of others and whenever he saw two people talking, he used to think they were talking about him,’’ Srivastava said. He added that Sanjay was given a room of his choice but he started having problems with other students. Sanjay’s local guardian Sudhakar Singh had refuted these charges.Sanjay’s father Ajay Pal Singh had lodged an FIR with Madiaon police on Sunday that his son was ragged by residents of Anand Villa Hostel. Ajay has named RS Tripathi, Vikas Gupta, Pravin Chaudhary and other unidentified residents of the hostel as the accused. Two outsiders, Naaus and Mama were also a party to the crime. They have been accused of mental and physical torture. Naaus and Mama threatened him of dire consequences. The FIR also states that though the warden was informed about the incident no action was taken.
