PWD clerk found dead in Lucknow office

LUCKNOW: A 35-year-old Public Works Department (PWD) clerk was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his office on Wednesday night.
As the post mortem examination could not reveal the exact cause of death, the viscera and the heart have been preserved for further investigation.
The deceased, Vipin Singh, was working late with two of his colleagues on the first floor of the office.A resident of Faizullaganj, Singh is survived by his wife Sapna and his six-year-old son, Virat.
Jitendra Kumar Jaiswal, brother-in-law of the deceased, told TOI that Sapna called him at around 11:15 pm on Wednesday and asked me to accompany her and a neighbor Sunny Singh to Vipin’s office as he had fallen from his chair and was unconscious. “When we reached there at 12:15am, Vipin was already dead,” said Jaiswal.
“Senior clerk Akashdeep told us that when Vipin complained of restlessness at around 10pm, we closed the office and moved downstairs, but on the way, he asked me to take him back to the office as he was not feeling well. I took him back, made him lie down on the bed and went out to inform the guard. On return, I found him unconscious lying on the floor,” he added.
He also claimed that some of the documents like IDs which Vipin used to carry in his wallet and pocket were missing.
Sunny Singh said that while the senior clerk said that the incident took place at 10pm, the PWD guard said that it happened around 8:45 pm, which raises suspicion. SHO, Hazratganj, Akhilesh Mishra said that prima facie there were no injury marks on the body.
ACP Hazratganj Akhilesh Singh said that the matter is being probed as the family has asked us to do so.
