LUCKNOW: A Durga Puja pandal is being raised by encroaching the road on Sharda Mandir Marg in Gomtinagar Extension. Local residents have objected to the pandal and have also lodged complaint with senior police officers.

JP Singh Baghel, who lives in a society nearby, told TOI that the illegal occupation of the road for puja pandal has also disrupted the movement of children studying in a prominent public school in the area. Another resident Ashutosh Singh said the main road is the key passage. Such an act is against the order of CM Yogi Adityanath and the high court, he added. “We have lodged a complaint with the JCP law and order and DCP east but the police have not taken any action yet,” said another resident Uma Shankar Dubey.

Joint commissioner of police, law and order, Piyush Mordia, said no new pandal spot will be given a permission to host Durga Puja.
