Public vehicle drivers get lessons on good behaviour

Drivers of public transport vehicles were trained for behavioural aspects on Sunday. Some 150 drivers participated in the training workshop organised by Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Lucknow Management Association (LMA).

LUCKNOW: Drivers of public transport vehicles were trained for behavioural aspects on Sunday. Some 150 drivers participated in the training workshop organised by Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Lucknow Management Association (LMA). The drivers were told about appropriate behaviour on the road. The speakers, who also included management trainers, were of the view that drivers controlled behaviour is a major component of road safety.
The traits of a good driver include patience and responsibility, which have been included in the CMV rules.

But there is a need to apprise drivers of the same. Efforts like this can go a long way, said Sanjay Nath Jha, ARTO (enforcement) who was one of the speakers.
The workshop proved to be of use to drivers of school buses, autos/tempos, city buses and UPSRTC buses who participated. The drivers were told about the Identification, Prediction, Decision and Execution (IPDE) principle of the CMV rules. The good drivers have the ability to identify a situation, predict a suitable style of behaviour, decide in the best interest of public safety and execute the action with minimum risk.
The experts and speakers also agreed that there is a need to distinguish between the good and the not-so-good drivers. The felicitation of good drivers will work as a major encouragement and others in the business will emulate them.
