LUCKNOW: Veerendra Narula (70), who went missing on Sunday after leaving his home in Aashiana area to collect rent from his tenants in Manak Nagar, was murdered. The police made the claim after detaining tenants Vicky and his brother Titu.
According to the police, after interrogating Vicky, it was revealed that he had allegedly murdered the elderly man and disposed off his body in the Indira canal under the Sushant Golf City police station.
Despite extensive searches the body of Narula could not be retrieved till the last reports came in.
Narula lived with his wife Amala in the Harmony Enclave at Eldeco Udyan I in Aashiana. He owned a property in Ram Nagar, Manak Nagar, which has been rented out. On Sunday, Narula had left home on his motorcycle to collect rent from his tenants, a property dealer named Sukhwinder alias Vicky, his father Harvansh Singh, mother Baljeet and brother Ajeet alias Titu.
“Narula did not return home that evening and his phone calls went unanswered. When they contacted the tenants, they received evasive responses. Later, the family filed a missing person report with the Aashiana police,” said the police.
The police discovered that disputes over rent payments had been frequent between Narula and his tenants. The tenants, who had been living in the property for 14 years, had even threatened Narula about vacating the premises.
SHO, Aashiana, Chhatrapal Singh stated that initial suspicions were directed towards the tenants. Following intense questioning, Vicky confessed to murdering Narula. “He disposed of the body in the Indira canal. Despite thorough searches with the assistance of divers, the body has not been located,” he said.
Based on the complaint of Narula's son, a
murder case has been registered and both Vicky and his brother Titu have been detained.
