LUCKNOW: The high court has directed Lucknow police commissioner to trace out the genuineness of a video clipping which indicates that one Sumit Mishra was beaten up by police.


The police had nabbed two accused in connection with murder of Mishra. He was allegedly kidnapped on July 16, 2021. Later, a video went viral on social media which showed that he died owing to beatings by police.

Passing the order, a bench of Justice Ramesh Sinha and Justice

Saroj Yadav

asked the police commissioner whether the postmortem examination revealed that the deceased Mishra was intoxicated. The bench will hear the matter on Tuesday.

Lalit Kumar Pandey

, who has been accused in the case by police, filed a writ petition in the HC challenging the

FIR

lodged in the matter and also sought stay on his arrest during investigation. He has claimed himself to be innocent and in support of his claim filed the said video clippings and sought that the matter may be transferred to the CBI to nail the truth.

Hearing the plea, the bench asked the CP to find out the truth about the video and place a report before it.
