‘Priyadarshini’ gives weavers a platform to upscale in state
Lucknow: Sahayata, an NGO working for the welfare of underprivileged children and women through education and empowerment initiatives, organised its annual handloom saree exhibition— ‘Priyadarshini'.The exhibition not only generates resources for the NGO's educational programmes but also provides a marketplace for weavers from various states, offering them recognition, encouragement and direct support. This exhibition was inaugurated by the vice chancellor of Bhatkhande University and attended by several personalities, including Huna Masood and the vice-chairperson of the Women's Rights Commission, along with several women professionals such as doctors, teachers and entrepreneurs, all coming together to support the cause.The exhibition showcases a rich collection of handloom sarees and textiles sourced from Rajasthan, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh, celebrating India's diverse weaving traditions.
