Private agency to provide civic services in Rajajipuram

lucknow: come september 1 and the lucknow nagar nigam will officially hand over the sanitation services of the rajajipuram area to a private firm. to be inaugurated by minister for urban development lalji tandon, the project has been handed over to a jaipur-based firm on an experimental basis. talking to the times of india, lnn officials said that if the exercise proved successful in rajajipuram, then sanitation services of rest of the city may also be extended to private bidders.according to the agreement reached between the lnn and the private firm, the latter will charge rs 20 from every household of the area. in return the private agency will provide sanitation services and give dustbins, gunny bags and arrange sweepers. while the lnn officials claimed that it would be first of its kind experiment, the fact is that in many localities, mainly in indiranagar and mahanagar, residents have already opted for private services for cleaning and sanitation.
