<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">lucknow: the erstwhile symbol of nawabi shan saadat ali khan ka maqbara was plunged into darkness after the lucknow electricity supply administration disconnected power supply against pending dues on friday. same was the fate of the pride of modern lucknow, the subhash park and the shaheed smarak. all because the lucknow nagar nigam and the lucknow development authority failed to pay their dues.
lesa officials said that power supply to sarojini naidu park, subhash park, mukherji park, awadh kunj and haathi park was also disconnected against pending dues. while subhash park and saadat ali khan ka maqbara had dues of over rs 10 lakh and were managed by lnn, other parks were the responsibility of the lda, with each one of them having outstanding dues up to rs 30-40,000. most of these parks come under the residency sub-station. meanwhile, the lnn and lda authorities on friday got into action and efforts were being made to pay the dues as soon as possible. “the lnn has already issued orders and the payment will be made within 48 hours,� said an lnn official. lda officials said that they, too, would pay the bills. however, the contention of both the lda and lnn authorities was that lesa too had to pay them huge amounts under various heads where it had used their services. <span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">protest:</span> people of snehnagar in alambagh staged demonstration to protest against four-hour power cut apart from rostering on friday. there were also over two hour cut in hussainganj area in the evening after transformer went out of order. <span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">crisis deepens:</span> the power crisis in the state deeepened with the closure of one unit of 110 mw of the paricha power plant on friday. the machine had to be shut down following a technical snag. the state is already reeling under a power crisis following the closure of a 200 mw unit of the obra power plant and a 500 mw unit of the anpara power plant. the thermal generation on friday stood at 2231 mw and hydro at 128 mw. impoprt was to the tune of 1890 mw. </div> </div>
