LUCKNOW: Was it a murder for loot? Or, a result of plain enmity? The police investigating the murder of stamp vendor, Ram Kishore Yadav, on Sunday night, are following both the lines of inquiry. In fact, they have got some definite clues that indicate more towards the second one.
Though not ruling out it to be a case of killing for loot, the police claimed to have got some important lead in the Chowk incident, which actually hint towards murder over old enmity.
Besides, the police also have not been able to clear of suspicion the stamp vendor's friend, who was accompanying him when the incident took place.
A stamp seller identified as Ram Kishore Yadav was shot dead and was allegedly robbed of cash near Teele Wali Masjid, in front of Bada Imambara, under Chowk police station area, on late Sunday evening.
Ram Kishore Yadav was coming from Aminabad with his friend, Vinod Misra, a resident of Gadhi Peerkhan, also under Thakurganj police station area, when according to eyewitness, two motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants waylaid Ram Kishore and Vinod, while he was passing near Teele Wali Masjid, in front of Bada Imambara.
According to sources privy to investigation, the statement as given by Ram Kishore's friend, Vinod, could not be corroborated by the independent eyewitness, who were present on the spot. This has created doubts about his complicity, sources said.
Strangely, the FIR lodged by the family members of Ram Kishore also has no mention of Vinod accompanying him. While the fact is that Vinod was with Ram Kishore when the incident took place. According to police sources, eyewitness account suggest that the miscreants knew Ram Kishore well. Reason they say was the fact that the miscreants stopped Ram Kishore's vehicle and opened indiscriminate firing with a .32-bore gun. A total of five rounds were fired, said sources.
Sources said that they took the bag as was identified by someone near the accident site. Who actually identified the bag to the miscreants has not been revealed, said sources. However, whether the purpose was loot or not could not be ascertained as it has not been confirmed that the bag actually had cash or not.
Besides, some cash, around Rs 12,000, has also been recovered from the pocket of the deceased which again hints that the motive may not have been to rob Ram Kishore of cash.
DIG Rajeev Krishna said that till now no concrete progress has been made. However, he hoped that the case would be worked out soon.
