Police step in to stop film shoot

LUCKNOW: Tiff between residents of an upscale colony of Gomtinagar interrupted shooting schedule of a production house which had flown down to the city from Mumbai last week. Based out of Andheri, the Mumbai the crew was all set to shoot a music album in a house located in Vijay Khand, on Tuesday noon but nextdoor neighbours called police to stop it midway.
The production house had taken permission from district administration to use locations in Gomtinagar and Hazratganj in advance and entered into an agreement with owner of house number A K Chaturvedi, retired chief engineer of irrigation department, to use his property. Actor Dev Sharma (of Yaariyan and Heropanti fame) and Marathi actress Neha Khan were getting ready for the dance sequence when a police jeep blaring its siren landed at Chaturvedi's doorsteps.
A businessman and relative of a senior police officer, residing next door called up Gomtinagar police station house officer. Inspector Raj Kumar Singh and his men instructed the crew to pack up.
Station house officer of Gomtinagar police station Raj Kumar Singh said the crew did not specify in advance that they wanted to shoot in the particular block. Additional district magistrate, Jai Shankar Dubey, who issued the permission said, "There must have been some misunderstanding. We are striving to give a friendly state experience to film makers so we will help the production house if they complain to us."
Resolving petty disputes and ego clashes between affluent families is an everyday issue for police posted in Gomtinagar. Everyday, Gomtinagar police deals with at least four tiffs between warring neighbours. "We have no option but to weigh who has more clout and decide accordingly," said a sub-inspector posted in Gomtinagar.
Meanwhile, the complaining neighbour said members of his family got apprehensive as the crew wanted to use the terrace of the adjacent house and that would put their house in full view. "We only asked police to check whether the production house had necessary permission," said the complainant.
