Police file FIR in hit and run case in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: After TOI highlighted that the law mandates police to initiate probe in case of a hit and run incident even if no one files a complaint, police on Tuesday lodged an FIR against an unidentified driver of the SUV that crushed an 18-month-old-boy in Gomtinagar Extension on Sunday. The FIR lodged by SI Irfan Ahmed says the toddler was crushed to death by a black SUV on Sunday afternoon.The father of the deceased had submitted a written application that he does not want postmortem examination or a case.
Locals said police should now scan CCTV footage to trace the vehicle.
