Police encounter in Mahoba: Two accused arrested

Lucknow: Two wanted accused involved in the robbery and murder of a businessman in the Panwadi police station area of Mahoba district were arrested after being injured in a police encounter. The police have recovered approximately 1.4 kg of gold, 20 kg of silver and Rs 25 lakh in cash.Additional DG, Prayagraj Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar said the incident occurred on Jan 25. Jeweller Ajay Soni was attacked and robbed near Mohalla Alipura under the Panwadi police station area. Subsequently, a case was registered and investigation was initiated.“Today’s breakthrough came when a joint police team intercepted two suspects travelling on a motorcycle near Kilhowa Marg, Jamala road. When police signalled them to stop, the suspects attempted to flee, firing shots at the police team. The police team retaliated, injuring both suspects and subsequently apprehending them,” said Bhaskar.The injured suspects were identified as Sakur Khan and Naeem Khan, residents of Datia district, Madhya Pradesh. Both are notorious criminals with a history of violent offences, including robbery and murder. Recovered from their possession were looted property, illegal weapons, spent cartridges and live ammunition, the officer added.Additionally, three other wanted accused involved in the incident were also arrested. They were identified as Yakub, Amit alias Nikki Soni and Nadeem. They were apprehended in separate operations, leading to the recovery of further stolen property and weapons.SP, Mahoba, Aparna Gupta said that it was a blind case and was worked out on surveillance.
